The Beaver Colony
What do Beavers get up to? You can find out for yourself by visiting the UK Beavers Site.
We have two Beaver Colonies meeting on a Monday and Wednesday.
For all general enquires or to contact the Beaver Leaders please email firstname.lastname@example.org
The Beaver Scout section is open to boys and girls aged 5 ¾ to 8 years old and we offer a wide range of activities for the young people. Beavers take part in a balanced programme that helps them to learn about themselves, get to know other people, explore the world around them, help other people and be creative.
The 46th Beaver Colony currently has about 55 Beavers over the two nights comprising of both male and female Beavers as well as a dedicated team of Adult Leaders and Young Leaders. We undertake various activities in our Scout Centre and occasionally further afield. We also hold indoor sleepovers either in our Scout Centre or in the George Smith Centre at Templars’ Park. Our weekly programme is geared around Beaver Activity and Challenge badges (more information on these can be found at the UK Beaver Site – link above).
Over the course of a term we aim to provide a programme that leads to at least one activity badge and work towards a challenge award. We also aim to hold one sleepover each term.
So, what do we do? Beavers is all about having fun. We do this by playing games, making things, going on visits or having people visit us, holding sleepovers and undertaking outdoor activities (such as treasure hunts and welly walks). We try to give the Beavers a little bit of independence away from Mum and Dad and help to give them a bit of self-confidence.
